For those of you doing Talisman some of you might not be skilling for a simple oversight. If you have 25-50 skill then you need to use a Talisman that is ranked at 25-50 or you wont get a point (or at least the chance is very very small). The only exception is is you just skilled to 50 then using a rank 25 talisman MIGHT possibly give you a couple points till about 55ish. Just check to make sure what rank of talisman your using.

I have managed to get my Talisman/Magical Salvage to 75/88 and am finding it VERY difficult to "skill up" on Talisman... I have a couple of accounts and a full set of material gatherers and crafters so I do a LOT of swapping between toons. The skill-up rate for Talisman is unbelievablely difficult. often salvaging 8 to 10 (at level armor drops) without a skill up point. I did have a good run of 3 points on 15 attempts using a level 50 fragment, 25 essence, 50 gold, and a purple level 25 curio. But thoses items represented almost a weeks worth of PvE killin' and salvaging. I am looking forward to 'Trashcans' buying idea but so far I am still level 18 and have not gone into the city yet.

And, Razenous - I have not even seen a 25+ container for talisman making... Not sure it exists although theoretically, it should, since an apothecary can use several different vials.

My skills are salvaging (lvl 60) and talisman making (lvl 28). It is WAY to difficult to find lvl 25 fragments and higher! Gold dust and curio items regularly drop from monsters - if you have a scavenger in your party or guild it is very easy to obtain them.
Essences can be salvaged from ruined equipment (as mentioned above), but the fragments themselves (the main ingredient in a talisman) are hard to find.

Christine; you can buy lvl 1 frags from any merchant. There are 4 different kinds; strength, ballistics, willpower and intelligence I think.
After playing a while I think talisman making is just not worth the effort. Cultivating is easier and you find seeds everywhere, I'm currently at lvl 134.

My advice is - if you get stuck at lvl 15+, 40+, 65+ etc, go find a seargant at a Battlefield Objective. There's usually three different kind of bonuses, and if you find the one called Artisan's Gift you'll get +10 in ALL your crafting skills. Then you can use 50+ fragments and essences even if your at lvl 40.

For example, in Barak Varr you'll find the seargant at the Lighthouse. NB that your realm has to control the zone (i.e. the keep) for this to work. Good luck.
